At age 43, I figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up!

The years rolled by and the long hours, stress of news production, and the aging process took it's toll on my health. I had been on a slow and debilitating slope of declining health where I had developed chronic knee and low back pain.  In fact, over a twenty year period of time I would see a medical clinician or medical doctor several times a year for pain management.

 

I'm curious by nature and I was paying attention and learning from the therapies I received. In time, I began to take more responsibility for my health and one day I just "got it". There is no magic pill or formula. Being healthy means being strong. Being free of pain often means having healthy joints with good mobility - having a strong trunk that can stabilize the body from the hips to the shoulders - and ultimately having a body that is strong. Exercise became my Rx and I trained my body beyond my own expectations of what was possible. Three years went by in no time.

 

I launched Body Basics Fitness, LLC in February 2005. My philosophy focuses on developing strength and functional ability in movements. This entails learning to move the body in functional patterns which incorporate strength, balance and core stabilization.  This approach is more effective and beneficial than training by the use of a weight training machines. The body works as an integrated unit and needs to be trained as such. This type of training will best prepare an individual for competitive sport or tasks performed in everyday life well into one's senior years.

Hi!  I’m Larry Wasserman, the Owner and Fitness Director of Body Basics Fitness in Warren, NJ. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). I have also completed the FMS certification – Functional Movement Screen.

 

I was a corprate guy working in broadcast television at a major network in New York City.  I could write a book about my twenty-plus years in television, but the best part that I'd like to share was was that I was able to be a part of the system that informed the world about historic events as they unfolded. That never got boring, ever.

What can I do for you?

My goal is to help you get from point A to point B, where the B stands for "better". Simply stated, I want to make you stronger and leaner, moving better, having no pain and feeling like age is just a number.

 

My clients come from all walks of life… from high school athletes to professional ball room dancers who compete on an international level, to people who have completed physical therapy but are afraid to go back to the gym, to busy working professionals, to people who prefer a quiet and private facility, to aging baby boomers who like me want to grow old gracefully.

 

I’m not telling you any of this to impress you. I’m telling you this to impress upon you that no matter what type of shape you are currently in, you can have the health and vitality of your dreams if you’re willing to do get the right information and help, and if you’re willing to put the work in.
